Garden of Eatin & The Backwards Design Lesson Plan

I’ve been collaborating on Backwards Design Lesson Plans for the MLK Elementary Garden project. I’m no certificated teacher. And neither are most of my friends.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t do anything we put our minds to do.
Thank You Alicia.
Thank You Marivel.
Thank You Dawn.
Thank You Shawna.
Thank You Mandy.

We, at Lighting up the Sky believe art and science go hand in hand.
We have worked tirelesslyto incorporate both fundamentals from the art world and science world to create an energetic
frequency dance that juts and dips; waltzs and fox trots; slides smoothly across platforms and
educational-mandated finish lines to marry cohesively. Art and Science together.
We worked on an upcycled art workshop, taking old mayonnaise jars from 0 to Angiosperm
Reproduction in under 4 weeks. We created drawings of water bottle green houses. We dreamt
up the concept “edible construction” in order to create a living roofed and walled outdoor
classroom.
To foster our avante garde approach, we employed the use of Backwards Design Templates
- touted by the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy as the greatest hope for real
educational progress and advancement.
