Student Reviews

"I just like it. It's fun to be in her class!"

– Tyler M., age 7

One-on-One Tutoring, Play-Based Intervention

“Our family built a 12-year relationship with Melissa Schilling. My son, on the autism spectrum, benefited from his one-on-one sessions with her. Together they tackled music and sports activities building fine and gross motor skill development. Melissa built communication skills and social skills into their sessions. After 12 years of consistent weekly sessions I can say that my sons life is forever changed. He is very comfortable with acquiring new skills and communicating with all of us about his newfound passions.

She integrated into his classroom at school to provide additional supports. She contributed to leisure activities by sourcing instructors and developing lessons that have opened the door to learning.
Overall I believe that my son grew into the kind, smart young man he is with her patient assistance.

I notice his excitement when he comes home from his outings. He is able to speak and share about his experiences and his school staff notices a positive change in his social-emotional health and pragmatic abilities when is working directly with Melissa.”

Small Group Instruction

“Melissa has an amazing rapport with the kids. She has a way of catching their attention and keeping them engaged, even on complex topics and even with children like my son who are on the spectrum. She also spends time helping them understand the class ground rules and expectations, especially around the technology they'll be using - something that's been sadly lacking in most of the online courses and distance learning we've done. ”

“Melissa brings joy, fun and a lot of experience to the classroom. Her passion for teaching and love for kids really comes through in her classes, even online. She was dynamic and engaged my son well, especially drawing out his strengths. I appreciate her creativity, organization and the innovative strategies, materials, and resources she uses to help her students succeed. I can't recommend Melissa highly enough.”

“My 7 year old son, Tyler, LOVES learning from Ms. Schilling!

He stays *completely engaged* and is excited to do his 'homework' right after class because he is so inspired! He has actually asked about doing more classes with her since!
Ms. Schilling's small classes, thoughtful connection to each student and creative teaching methods/materials add to his success.

I compare this to the public online school program my son is currently enrolled in where he is constantly leaving the screen, bored and reading a book under the table.

I'd choose Melissa Schilling to teach my son any day! She is a powerhouse to the educational world. Thank you!"

Assessment/Intake

“My son was nervous about getting an assessment but Melissa exudes so much kindness and honesty that he was quickly put at ease. She explained each test thoroughly and patiently creating a safe space for him to complete each assessment. Melissa is very knowledgeable and has years of experience in special education which is clear when she helped my family navigate the waters of educational therapy providing us with advice on how to advocate for our son and get the resources we need.”
